I say that only slightly in jest. Man is that guy popular!
My MIL and I went to the American Idol tour Wednesday night and we had a blast! The concert was great but the real fun was standing outside trying to autographs and pictures with the contestants! Although I have a sneaking suspicion that my MIL's 'real fun' was watching Adam Lambert perform ;~)
We got there early enough to claim spots along the rail... front and center in case Adam decided to come out ;~)
We actually made friends with these 2 girls... clearly their love of Kris is evident!
This is probably about an hour and a half from show time... the crowd was getting very big!
Even though I have never watched a single episode of American Idol (and probably still won't), I have to say, I really enjoyed the show. There is something about being at a concert, with all the buzz and excitement, to really make the experience fun.
The singers came out in order of elimination... which was really evident. The first few were good singers but had very little stage presence.
Michael - easily my least favorite was awkward and had very little movement. Walking is about all he did. I've also heard snippets of things he has said while signing autographs... seems pretty petty and jealous of a certain singer. Jealousy never looks good.
Megan - clearly playing on her looks she had a dress that had to make breathing difficult... to which I maintain, no one looks good in something that tight. She had to 'pull' her dress down once or twice which really made little difference. She awkwardly strutted around the stage trying not to flash everyone. Oh and the awkward arm movements... she should stick to walking like Michael.
Scott - I really enjoyed his numbers but there was little pizazz behind it. You almost have to like him because of his disability but truly there is talent there as well. And at one point he was standing on stage, on his own, singing and dancing in a line with 3 of the other guys... which impressed the heck out of me. I can't imagine doing all that without vision.
Lil - I actually enjoyed her as well... strong beautiful voice and a good stage presence.
Anoop - Oh. So. Awkward. He did a gyrating motion that made me cringe. So over done and obvious... not cool.
Matt - Possibly my favorite singer (don't tell my MIL). He was out before the show for a very long time... taking pictures and talking with the fans... which was cool in and of itself. Then he performed. I loved it... and he truly looked like he was having fun. He was energetic and really put it all out there. I dig this guy.
Allison - Janis Joplin reincarnate. I can't wait to see what this 17 year old dynamo does next.
Danny - He was good but I didn't get a warm fuzzy from him. He seemed nice enough when he was out meeting people and his performance was good... just didn't have the 'it' factor!
Adam - He definitely puts on a good show. He is playful with the crowd, moves around a lot and does some fun little moves but it all seems very natural. He does remind me a lot of Elvis with his movements... and fan following ;~)
Kris - He did really well but I think I would enjoy listening to his CD when I am home with the family... at a concert, not so much. Still... he is a very talented guy and very humble (so it seems at least ;~) He spent a lot of time outside before the show with the fans which endeared me to him.
Anyway, I didn't mean to go on a rant about each one but after all that work, I am not deleting it ;~)
Scott standing up talking to the audience.
Matt rocking out on the piano.
Adam performing again.
Adam and Allison's duet... those 2 were made to perform together.
Sadly Adam did not come out to see the fans, either before or after. I wish he had but I can see why he didn't. Those people are crazy!
We did get some money shots though...
We had such a great time... I can't wait until Adam goes on his own tour... we will SO be there!
