So begins the last year of my 20's

It's official... I am now 29 years old... feels much like it did when I was 28 ;~) Although someone did mention that it was my last year of my 20's and that struck me as odd... not good, not bad... just odd. I happen to like where my life is leading me right now so being another year older doesn't really bother me ;~)

I had a fantastic rest of the day yesterday!

Dinner at Bicycle with Adam, Dad and Stacie was absolutely divine... I encourage anyone in the area to make it a point to have dinner there! For an appetizer I had Sashimi Tuna and Avocado Tartare, for dinner I had Tenderloin of Beef and for dessert I had a dense warm chocolate cake that absolutely melted in my mouth... easily one of the best desserts I have ever had. I even splurged and had a glass of merlot... and boy was it good!

Dad surprised me with a brand new digital camera of which I am thrilled about. I really wanted a nice camera of my own when I am home with Peabert all day long. I love to take pictures and I have a feeling he will be a perfect subject ;~) The camera also serves a dual purpose... Dad and Stacie will be receiving many, many, many pictures and videos of little man! It will be a great way for us to keep in touch through the distance ;~)

It really was a nice birthday... So many people sent me birthday wishes, it made me feel very loved. Thanks to everyone out there that gave me that feeling ;~) I am blessed.

It's my birthday!

Happy Birthday to me! Today I turn 29!

My friends however seem to have a hard time remembering this... Heather came over on Monday night and dropped off a card so I could open it on my birthday, Tuesday the 28th. Then I get to work on Tuesday, the 28th, and have an email from my friend Rose wishing me a Happy Birthday. Then I get a text message last night, Tuesday the 28th, just before midnight from Danielle saying that she is so sorry she missed my birthday and that she would be over today to apologize more.

That is, count them.... 3 close friends that got it wrong... but not only got it wrong, got it wrong on the same day. No one tops Christine though... I forget how old I was turning but one year I walked into Christine's house and from the end of the hall I hear Happy Birthday being sung at top volume. Sweet and lovely gesture... only it was July 29th... yeah, a whole month early. That memory will live in infamy! I love my friends ;~)

Anyway, today should be a good day. On the one hand I did wake up late so this morning was a little rushed but I am at work now and hopefully things will slow down a little.

On my lunch break I am picking up portraits that I took for a family last year and I am really excited to see how they turn out... one I had printed to put in Peaberts room because I was so happy with it. I will scan it at some point to show everyone.

Tonight Adam and I are going to dinner with Dad and Stacie. We are going to Bicycle for dinner and I am really looking forward to it... supposed to be very nice ;~) I am looking forward to spending time with my dad and Stacie since we are in the countdown of their time in MD. Hard to believe in less than a month they will be full fledged CA dwellers!

I have to say already... thanks to the hubby for serenading me this morning when we woke up. Happy Birthday never sounds so good as first thing in the morning when you are all bleary eyed ;~) Also, thanks to the hubby for volunteering to be on dog detail today so I don't have to be all stressed. He's a good man.

Allow me to vent

Why would you come in the office when you are sick. I don't mean 'sneeze', 'God Bless you' sick... I mean hacking as you walk around... blowing your nose (in which an ungodly amount of snot apparently resides)... sniffling and breathing heavy... basically making co-workers (at least this one) sick to their stomach.

I am 7 months pregnant so I definitely do NOT want to get sick... however, I contend even if I wasn't pregnant, I wouldn't want to get sick from your nasty snot filled germs floating through the air.

Sorry for the rant but let me encourage anyone reading... if you are this sick... TAKE A SICK DAY. Spare the rest of us the misery of listening to you and wondering when we will start sniffling.

Weekend Recap

So as you all know... Friday didn't start off exactly stellar but once I got out of work and got home... things drastically improved.

It started off with Adam making a nice dinner for us... crab cakes with a homemade vegetable medley. Then the Townley's got their first pictures of Rockstar which really made their day which in turn made mine. It was really great seeing how moved they were to finally see pictures of their little one (which I am predicting is a girl!). Then the 4 of us spent the evening playing Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture Edition... boys vs. girls... which I am proud to say the girls won!

The weekend was pretty good as well... I met up with Jaime for coffee on Saturday morning and then Adam and I attempted to run errands but about halfway through I needed to come home and relax. It was 100 degrees out and my 'get it done attitude' was all but gone.

We did manage to get some stuff to fix up the nursery once we were home.

Since Peabert's closet is actually storage and has (literally) no room we have decided to utilize our bookshelves and baskets as storage for Peabert... but that leaves no clothes bar to hang his little church suits on. Enter Heather... she came up with a great idea and Adam implemented it this weekend... I give you ingenuity at its best:

Thanks to Heather for the brilliant idea!

Other nursery changes... cleaned (thoroughly) the new dresser and put away diapers, blankets and other odds and ends stuff. Also, we hung some gifts that I received from my brother-in-law from his multiple trips to Ukraine. Yeah... Peabert has a touch of culture!

We hung some of our birthday presents filled with pictures of friends and family near Peaberts crib.

We have been trying to explain the new arrival to Riley so he is not absolutely confused when the time comes but he is really only interested in sleeping in daddy's spot on the couch. Our dog definitely wins the most laid back award ever!

Lastly I submit my husband, who without fail always makes my life interesting... I don't think he quite grasps the concept of the Boppy. I love you sweetie!

August 24

Today is my mom's birthday. Do I say was my mom's birthday? She was still born on this day, dead or alive... Oh well, semantics.

I am trying really hard to have a good day... I very much believe that your days are what you make of them. You can be happy in the midst of frustrations and trials but today is really trying my patience.

I have already had Mr. Axmurderer flip me off and stare me down at a traffic light... I wasn't perfect in this exchange... although I did keep all offending fingers down but I did get exasperated with him and he saw that and was not so happy with me. Which leads me to be paranoid that he wrote down my tag numbers and will be lying in wait to kill me. I already have my news headlines written in my head. If Mr. Axmurderer doesn't kill me, this is a good opportunity for me to remember to keep my attitude in check no matter how slow or insane I think the person in the car next to me is. I am lucky he didn't pull out a shotgun and shoot me at the stoplight.

After talking to the husband who tried to reassure me that we would be fine I find out that starting today summer hours are over so I will be working until 5:30 with no chance of getting out early... ugh. Not uplifting at all.

Just not a great way to start out what was a 'veiled' day to begin with. I am trying really hard to keep my head up and be determined to have a good day in spite of all the obstacles... please pray for me. I need it today.

My mom would have been 56 today. She would kill me for telling the world that but it's my choice now!

Here are a couple pictures of mom and I:

Mom pregnant with me... I think I am carrying similar to her.

Our very early days.... hard to believe that soon I will be holding my child the same way she held me.

Mom and I in NY obviously before the towers came down.

This is purely for all of you out there... mom and I had a free portrait sitting so we got all dressed up and apparently played 'war of the highest hair'. I think I win in height but she wins in overall fluffiness. I just love this picture.

Mom and I on vacation in Bermuda

Mom and I at my wedding... halfway through the father/daughter dance Dad and I motioned for mom to come up and I finished the dance with her. I am really glad she was there for that day.

Man I miss her. Happy Birthday Mom.

Just plain evil...

A certain co-worker spritzes this on every so often.. sometimes once a day, sometimes a couple times a day. Remarkably, this stuff smells EXACTLY like cotton candy... which to a sugar crazed pregnant woman is almost unbearable...

I need to find a circus... fair... carnival... something... I need to eat cotton candy.

As long as I can remember

I have wanted to be a mom. This has been my greatest desire since before I have a memory. I grew up always wanting to be in the church nursery helping, babysitting anyone that would have me and basically hijacking any baby that was at any event. There is something that draws me to kids... babies specifically.

I think the reliance they have on us as adults is amazing. They have no capabilities on their own and we have to be their everything. I find that amazing.

I have also always dreamed of being pregnant. I really thought that I knew how great it would be and how much I was going to love it. My dreams and ideas don't even come close to this feeling. I couldn't have possibly known what a utterly wonderful and indescribable feeling this is. Peabert moves and kicks on such a regular basis now... he is really making his presence known. I had no idea how awe inspiring it would be to look down and physically see your belly move and know that you are carrying a piece of you and your best friend. I wish I could convey my amazement but it's impossible. If it were possible then I would have been fully prepared for this and I wouldn't have been surprised but I think that is the beauty of pregnancy. No one, not the most seasoned of mothers, can possibly explain or convey the joy and amazement this brings.

Ok, enough blathering... back to work!

Out in the open!

Our friends the Townley's have done it... they have gone and announced that they are PREGNANT!!!
We have officially known since July 4th when a very flu like Danielle told us to expect a playmate for little Peabert! After some shouting and hugging, we hightailed it onto the deck because of the overwhelming smell of sausage... and thus began the morning sickness that overtook Danielle!
Seriously I could NOT be happier for you guys and I am so looking forward to having Rockstar next door!

I am looking forward to having all of our friends... Little Ava, Tyler Scott, Rockstar, baby CGT (see end of post that this links to), Shrimpee... so many babies! I love it!

Here's a picture that I have been dying to post...

Diane and I and our bellies are surrounding the newly preggers Danielle!

Month o Birthdays!

Here is Adam showing off his birthday gift from his awesome wife... I doubt he will ever run out of things to write on that shirt!

2 days later (Aug. 10) was Heather's birthday! Contrary to the picture, Heather is definitely older than 18... she actually turned 22!! She was able to get off work early on Friday and we had cake and played games with friends!

Oh and she opened a birthday present courtesy of her hubby in Iraq! About 24 days until he comes home! Wahoo!

Adam and I went to H-town to celebrate our birthdays and this is what we were greeted with! Everything on the table is for Adam and I except for the cat! Julio was just guarding the gifts until we were ready to open them! As you can see we were absolutely spoiled for our birthdays!!! We were basically outfitted with all new pots and pans, a couple new picture frames, sunglasses for me (Oakley's!), Everwood on DVD, Scrubs Season 5 on DVD, a new blanket to cuddle with baby on the couch, a new mug... I am sure I am forgetting stuff too! Needless to say it was a lot of fun and Adam and I feel VERY blessed!

Here we are with the parents... Sandy and Joe ~ Thanks again guys! We really appreciate everything!

Also, while we were in h-town we decided to go looking for a changing table/dresser for young Peabert's room... after seeing exactly what we were looking for Sandy mentioned that she had a dresser from Grammy's house that she wasn't quite sure what to do with... turns out it is the perfect height, has 4 great drawers and looks fantastic in the room! We cleaned it up and brought it home! So here, yet again, God has provided for us in unimaginable ways!

Stay tuned for Layla Bean's birthday (17th), Josh's birthday (26th) and my birthday (29th)! It's a busy month for birthday's on our block!

Video Fun

I have been heavy on the picture/video posts lately but I couldn't help this one... I got this from Brandon and it made me crack up laughing...

In case you don't know what this refers to... check out what floated around the internet a year or so ago... Click Here.

It's been a great weekend

On Friday I came home to these:

Work has been particularly hard this week and Adam picked these up and surprised me! What a sweet hubby!

This is what a crib comes in... who knew it was to big for the back of a Jeep Grand Cherokee! We learned quickly how to secure this box on the skis of the roof rack and drive very carefully on the way home. Luckily we made it!

This is Adam in jail... never a dull moment around here!

And this is our final product! A place for our baby to sleep! It's so weird that it's getting so close! Hard to believe in a few short weeks we will be full fledged parents!

This is me practicing my domestic skills. I am attempting to perfect eggs over medium... not so much this time around... more like eggs over well done. Oh well, slightly higher heat next time.

I am really looking forward to tomorrow night because one of my bestest friends in the world, Christine, is coming over! We have been friends since we were 9 years old! You may remember an old post about us being pregnant at the same time and how excited I was about that. Unfortch Christine miscarried. After some healing and LOTS of time in prayer, God has blessed her and Greg with another little being. She is going for her first appointment next week and we are so thrilled! I love you girl and God does provide!

Reminds me of my mom

This song has become of my favorites because it reminds me of my mom. I think it reminds me of her because I feel like she was ready to be home with God. She was ready to spend just one day with God rather than live on this earth for another 30 years afflicted with cancer.

Just thought I would share.
