Still here...

Just extremely tired ;~)

Just wanted to pop in and say hello to everyone. As most of you are aware, I am still adjusting to life with a newborn. Sleep is difficult to come across and the demands on my body are tough... throw in some baby blues and extra pregnancy hormones and lets just say its been a long 2 weeks.

I think the baby blues have been the worst part. Adam generally only sees me at night and that is when they strike. I get weepy and mopey for no real good reason. I can actually be crying and wondering what I am crying for at the same time. It's enough to make a girl feel insane. Then, the next morning I wake up and feel like I am ready to take on the world. It's quite a cycle. To those of you that I promised to call... I swear I want to, I just never feel 'well' enough to call at night and I am pretty sure most of you are busy during the day (if I am not napping with Chase ;~)

Having Chase here is absolutely amazing though. I love to look at him and watch the faces that he makes... actually that has now become a pastime of Adam and I's... just watching to see what face he morphs into next. He makes this silly smiley face that absolutely cracks me up... I am working on getting it on video or in a picture.

Anyway, I hope all is well out there with all my friends. I miss you guys and hopefully will be back in the swing of things soon enough! Here are a few recent pictures of little man...

Sleeping peacefully

Kristen and Ava Grace came for a visit on Tuesday... Ava is 4 months old now!

John, April and Dante brought Adam and I dinner on Tuesday night... Dante is 2 and a half months old and meeting his new playmate for the first time!

Freshly bathed Chase... love the fro he gets when his hair is just dried and this look is just too funny.

Daddy and his little man. Adam is absolutely loving fatherhood!

I love EVERY picture!

Sweetie, I remember those feelings and it's exactly why they call them the baby blues. Your body is going through so much and it's also running more and on less than it's ever ran before... Both your mind and your body. Take care of yourself, Adam will help, and if anyone EVER volunteers any help, TAKE IT. That was the hardest thing for me and if I could go back and change something, that would be it.

Hugs sweetie!

I'm sorry that you have been having such emotional highs and lows, I know it must be hard. I never experienced the baby blues myself, but have seen many of my friends go through it though. Just like Kathi said, take help when it's offered, it is crucial for keeping yourself healthy. And ya gotta love people bringing over meals, I always was so grateful for that, it helped so much.

I love the after bath picture, it made me giggle. Can't wait to see more!! :)

Oh Honey! I was wondering if you'd get the baby blues...I've been praying for you, especially after seeing no posts for a while I had guessed that was what was up. My Dr. , upon my discharge from the hospital said, "the next two weeks are going to be the hardest, if they don't seem to be getting better CALL ME!" So that's my advice to you, call your Dr. if it doesn't seem to be getting better...and if you can't tell, ask your husband. He'll be able to tell you.

I had trouble at night too. Right when the sun would go down I'd start to feel empty and alone, in total despair. Nick and I had a code word for it...we called it my "Sad Time". All I'd have to say was, "Honey my sad time is coming" and he'd try to make me laugh, help me with what I was doing, go on a walk with me...One night was so bad we called our friends and invited them over. It worked like a charm. I only bawled the first fifteen min they were over. Keep yourself around people, and honesty is the best thing. It's good that you can say it's bothering you! Not to forget prayer either! It sounds like you're doing great, working through it. Look at the beautiful baby you have who loves you! That helps too!

I will continue to pray for you!

Take heart. The first 2 weeks postpartum were always the toughest for me, too. Things seemed to take a turn by week 3, and then slowly improve each week until I was normal (whatever that is!) It usually took a couple months. Hubby and I called it "the 4th trimester" (from some book we read) and you definitely need to give yourself that long to feel better. But do call the Doc if you don't see some improvement within a week or so. Can't wait to stop by...I'll call first and I will NOT stay long!! Hugs!!

It was so good to talk to you last week and you sounded great! I have a feeling I will be the same way, I'm pretty emotional anyway and hormones really affect me! I feel like I have so much left to do...I don't even have baby wipes yet! And the pack 'n play market really sucks. Keep smiling, laughing, and praying!
