Whew...

Thank goodness that's over.

Getting ready to set off... happier times.

Initially we were in very good spirits...

but of course that included coffee...

and vanilla milk.

Soon we were attempting distraction...

after distraction...

after distraction...

when finally this happened.

24 minutes later... awake and crying.

*sigh*

After yet another stop, we attempted distractions such as...

M&M's...
cheetos...

and puzzles...

until we finally arrived! Never has getting out of the car felt so wonderful!

Within the first 4 seconds of Chase putting his feet in the ocean I decided the trip, as whiny and cranky as it had been, was totally worth it.

He walked right up and cautiously put his feet in...

which soon gave way to jumping...

repeatedly with bigger and bigger splashes...

until the allure of the sand became too much...

and he felt the need to throw himself down and roll around in it.

Oh yeah... that's a mess.

He was enthralled with seashells and he insisted needed to be thrown into the ocean... each and every time he found a new one.

He sure was a mess by the time we walked back up to the hotel but he deserved it...
9.5 hours in a carseat is a lot to ask of a 2.5 year old.

And Adam and I have an entire week to dread the ride home ;~)

Glad you made it, safe and sound and sane :). At the end of the week, he will be wiped out from all the fun. Maybe he will sleep more. That was what happened with Lexi. Remember last year she didn't sleep the entire 2 days we drove to Iowa? Yeah. But she did both days on the way back. I wish you a fun filled week!

Add about 4 hours, and a screaming baby, and you have a pretty good idea of what next year will be like. Good times. Have fun! Chase looks like he's having a great time already!

Oh, and please don't tell me you only made one stop a starbucks?! Coffee = survival .. remember that on the way home :)

Car ride is not easy for a 2.5 old. I think plane ride is much easier some times. I haven't driven with Minhae like that long yet. Have fun while you are away and don't worry until you drive back!
